Jeffrey Augustine Songco (enhanced podcast)

Click to Play

We sat down with artist Jeffrey Augustine Songco (http://songco.org) and discussed his past and current work. We discuss Jeffrey’s shifting back and forth between relationship aesthetics, Internet art, installation art, and performance art. Most interestingly, Jeffrey explains where his work is going and why being big on the Internet is not all it is cracked up to be.

Images of some of Jeffrey’s work are imbeded in this, the enchanced version of the podcast. If you would like more information your should visit his site (http://songco.org) or our past podcast at Newmediator.org (http://newmediator.tumblr.com/post/2754750560/jeffrey-augustine-songco-2012-mp3-audio).

Twitter Art in Moss, Norway → tvostfold.no
This is a video covering a Twitter Art Exhibit that I’m in and is being run by an amazing painter named David Sandum. More about the exhibit from David: The interview is with the Director at the Moss public library, Lillian Salomonsen. I was featured on the NRK news the day after (see link below). Clip in Norwegian but show many art pieces. See: http://www.tvostfold.no/klipp/2708.html

Exhibit progress report/description: The exhibit opened in November and will last until Feb 1st. The exhibit features 260 artists from 23 countries, who have sent hand-painted postcards to exhibit together in Moss, Norway. The cards cost 200 NOK each ($32.00) and all proceeds go to fund children’s books for the library. The cards are displayed on a large wall donated by Momentum/F15 (government funded art-agency), and the wall is located in the entry of the Moss library. The exhibit is called “140 characters” and originated through David Sandum on Twitter. Thus, a real life twitter art exhibit, as it involves artists communicating through this social media. So far, we have sold 104 cards and raised 20.800 NOK ($3547.00). The cards will remain on display until the exhibit is over. So if you’re local and still haven’t seen it, please drop by! There is still time to pick up some amazing art at an amazing cost!

Newmediator Artshow

Newmediator.org is hosting its first live event in May 2011 and we need your help! We are going to be hosting a one day group exhibition in Highland Park, NJ.

We are a web operation so we have an excited group of artists, but with no space to exhibit the physical work. To pay for the space we are going to launch a Kickstarer project next month. This means that we are going to ask for donations, and reward your generosity with exclusive gifts.

Your generous donations will help us cover the costs of exhibition catalogs, rental space, refreshments, shipping, and anything unforeseen that comes up. We are not asking for very much in donations because we are trying to be as focused on the exhibition and event as possible. With your help we can take our experiment off the screens and into the streets.

Gifts for donors:
Donors who give $3 will receive a copy of the limited edition exhibition catalog with images from the show and a hand written thank you note to you in the cover. There will only be 200 or so of these printed.

Donors who give $15 will also receive a catalog with a thank you note in the mail. In addition, these donors have their names included in the catalog and will be mentioned in a thank you episode of the Newmediator.org podcast.

Donors who donate $100 dollars will receive a catalog with a handwritten thank you and a mention in the catalog. Along with those gifts our top tier donors will also be featured in their own interview episode of the Newmediator.org podcast to discuss their interest in the show, their reasons for donating, and any other related topic.
